On a mission to find the best Rib Eye Steak and Chips in London

Hawksmoor Guildhall

So here it is – the daddy of steak restaurants in London, and I’ll just come right out and say it – my absolute favourite. Not only does Hawksmoor always deliver the best steak in London, they also have awesome fries, awesome starters, awesome desserts, and generally awesome staff. How would I get on during this visit to Hawksmoor Guildhall, in the City?

Butlers Wharf Chop House

The Butlers Wharf Chop House is ran by the D&D London group, who run a range of top quality restaurants in London and further afield. With restaurants such as Coq d’Argent and Madison, would the Butlers Wharf Chop House on the south bank of the Thames be up there with the best?

Goodman City

Ah, Goodman. If someone was to ask me cold “where can I get the best rib eye in London”, there’s a pretty good chance I’d be sending them to Goodman. With a location just off Cheapside in the City, unfussy service and a down-to-earth setting, there’s a lot to be said for this place…

I’ve eaten here quite a few times, and have always considered it a ‘safe choice’. I’d been less than impressed with Gordon Ramsay’s place in the same building less than a week earlier, so would this place do any better?

MASH, London

I’ve been going to MASH London a couple of times a year for the past few years. Despite being round the corner in Soho from my favourites Gaucho and Hawksmoor, I find this a ‘safe bet’ with a good range of meat, an amazing setting. What’s the verdict this time?

Bread Street Kitchen by Gordon Ramsay, London

Gordon Ramsay’s Bread St. Kitchen in One New Change takes the honour of my first Rib Eye steak review. Slap bang in the middle of the city, in the same building as Jamie Oliver’s Barbecoa, I had high hopes for this highly-reviewed restaurant. I found a brilliantly cooked, but mainly flavourless steak, and slightly strange service…
